The Power of Prayer aka How I was Blessed to Meet an Apostle of Jesus Christ

So we just went to the LA dodgers game. We lost miserably, but I had an experience that felt like a personal win in gaining more evidence of God’s love for His children, including me. It was Mormon night and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland threw the first pitch but we were just 10 minutes late due to traffic. So at the end of the game we were debating whether to watch the fireworks from the field or not. We were so tired from being at the zoo all day that I said the only reason that could motivate me to make that journey down all the steps would be if I could rub shoulders with the apostle Elder Holland. I got to meet him in Maui at a stake conference with our friend Halley and after that very powerful, soul-changing and fiery talk he gave he had greeted Halley, Ryan and me like we were old friends and like we were his kids almost so I was incredibly most pleasantly surprised to cross paths with him after the fireworks. I saw him coming right across from us so I reached out to him and said “it’s good to see you again. We last saw you in Maui,” after he had said “hi guys.” It was a simple and sweet meeting but it meant the world to me. Heavenly Father orchestrated that meeting with a special witness of Christ whose shoulders have borne some very heavy burdens but also some immense joys and an incredibly solid and vibrant testimony of Jesus Christ as well as our specialness as sons and daughters of God. And God wanted to pass the light and strength to me again and I have no doubt that it was my Father lining up that meeting. It would be too crazy to be coincidence. There were 5500 Mormons and many more fans there but I sought especially after one special witness and servant of God and leader and mentor to me. I was blessed with comfort and peace just to see him and such joy to give a small embrace. More than anything I have to believe that God heard my statement and answered the desire of my heart. And I love that. That is way beyond really nice. He loves me and hears little old me. I believe He loves and hears each of us and delights to give to us. It’s okay to ask. It’s a joy to ask and receive and give. Just do it right now. You will be pleasantly surprised.
